Field Note #006
When I started building IMIXAR, I thought trust was a problem to solve after the product worked.
Build a better virtual try-on.
Make it look more realistic.
Then convince people to trust it.
The more customer comments I read, the more that assumption fell apart.
People weren't asking for perfect AR.
They were asking a much simpler question:
"If I buy this lipstick, will it actually look like this on me?"
That changed how I think about the product.
The goal isn't to simulate reality perfectly.
The goal is to reduce the gap between expectation and reality.
Trust isn't a feature added to the product. Trust is the product.
Context
Analyzing real customer questions while designing IMIXAR's virtual try-on experience.
What changed?
I stopped thinking about trust as a marketing problem and started treating it as a product outcome.
Next experiment
Compare virtual previews with real product tests and publish both. Every comparison is an opportunity to learn where trust is gained—or lost.
Every Field Note captures a real decision made while building IMIXAR. Some ideas will survive. Others won't. The notes remain either way.
